Walkthrough thing with basic list of essential stuff.

This is just a list of what will happen in the game and most of the necessary placeables, conversations, scripts, NPCs, items, etc. Of course, I add to make some stuff up, and remove some stuff, so definitely feel free to make changes. Otherwise, use this to fill out your levels, and Pavel and I will use it to try and work out what scripting will involve.

Also, I'll likely do the forest level if I get a chance, even though we won't need it, as there isn't much else I can do, other than start some scripting. Someone also needs to get onto recording sounds (we could all do that I suppose).

1. Cutscene involving destruction of carriage (or simply waking up in wreckage).

2. Player spawns in the normal pre-village area, surrounded by a burning carriage, bodies, etc.
Pickable Items: Map?
Placeables: Carriage, Bodies, Broken bits of wood, trees, rocks, fire.
NPCS: None.
Sounds: Fire burning, other environmental sounds.
Scripts: Cutscene, Flashes, Fire Damage.
Background: Village Buildings/image.

3. Player arrives in village, with area transition.
NPCS: 2 quest NPCS, inn patrons, farmer, regular villagers, guards, blacksmith, medicine guy.

4. Player speaks to NPC.
Conversations: Gives quest (fetch quest)
Items: Whatever you need to fetch.

5. Player completes quest for that NPC.
Items: Reward (something shit)

6. Player speaks to another (optional) NPC and completes quest.
Conversations: Gives quest (hunting or something).

8. Player is approached by mother. Player is asked to look after baby.


9. Player finds house, and enters. Explores, and finds baby's room.
Items: Milk Bottle, Knife.
Placeables: Chest of Drawers, Crib.
NPC: Baby.
Sounds: Crying.
Scripts: Health deduction.

10. Player can feed baby, and then kill it, or just kill it with the knife.

11. Blackout.
Scripts: Creepy transition. Image Flashes.
Sounds: Creepy sounds.

12. Player appears in dark realm, confused.
Effects: Fog and creepy shit.
Sound: Whispers, possibly crying baby.
Items: Dummy.

13. Player exits room, and exits house.
NPCS: Tormented mother?

14. Player transitions to dark village.
NPCS: Three ghostly people. All offering quests.

15. After completing the 4th quest for a creepy person, player transitions back to light realm.
Scripts: Mid-game/mid-area transition.
NPCS: Original ones in village.
Items: Any items that were used in the quest.
Sounds: Regular village sounds.

16. Little Boy approaches player in cutscene.
Conversation: Boy explains problem. Dog lost.
NPC: Boy.

17. Visit blacksmith to grab some basic weapons.
NPCS: Blacksmith (Boy's dad), anyone else in village.
Conversation: Blacksmith and Player about lost dog/boy.
Items: Shit Sword. Health potion.

18. Find boy again.
Script: Check whether weapons have been grabbed. Initiate next sequence.
Conversation: Boy asking if you're ready.

19. Travel through forest. Night time.
Placeables: Campsite fire, logs, empty tents, trees, rocks, squirrels, etc.
Enemies: Not sure yet, just random stuff.
Items: Unknown, possibly potions, helpful shit.
Sounds: Enemies, wind.

20. Player fights enemies (possibly in campsite), while protecting boy.
Scripts: Enemy behaviour, boy fleeing and hiding.
Sounds: None.

21. After enemies destroyed, venture further through the forest to caves.
NPCS: Boy, Dog.
Sounds: Barking, yelping, echo.
Placeables: Rocks, stalagmites (or however you spell it), ores.
Scripts: Rescuing dog.

22. Pass through caves (small section).
Placeables: Same as before.
Enemies: Random cave enemies.

23. Emerge in lake area.
Sounds: Trees rustling, possibly water monster.
Custom Content: Fish.
Placeables: Fisherman's house, other random places.
NPC: Fisherman.
Conversations: Fisherman quest.

24. Help fisherman with his quest (something to do with fishing?), then blackout and dead fisherman.
Scripts: Water travel (cutscene), taking helmet.
Items: Helmet.
Placeables: Boat.
NPC: Dead Fisherman.

25. Dive into the water.
Scripts: Handling fish.
Sounds: Bubble sounds and whatever sounds fish make.
Custom Content: Fish.
Placeables: Seaweed, shells, rocks, boat wreckage, nets.
Enemies: Some kind of water enemies.
Other: Flashes of tormented mother.

26. Go through water area, fighting creatures, collecting items for final battle.
Scripts: Underwater enemy behaviour (floating bodies?);
Sounds: Creature calls, etc.
Items: Weapons/Armor/Items related to baby stabbing for tormenting purpose.
Other: Random image flashes, creepy fade outs, etc (this stuff will be in most dark levels)

27. Emerge in final arena cave.
NPCS: Mother.
Conversations: Explanation of bad deeds.
Placeables: Rocks, dirt piles, skulls, blood, etc.
Items: Possibly something to weaken her. (maybe the more creepy baby items you have in your inventory, the more she is vulnerable)
Scripts: Handling vunerability. Possibly flashback cutscenes.
Sounds: Creepy mother voice.
Other: Flashes.

28. Defeat Tormented Mother.
Cutscene ending the game. Possibly ends with player death (just for fun, and so we don't have to end stuff).
