Hey guys here's a list/tutorial of how I did the dark realm, it should work for exteriors as well, so yeah, win.
So all of these effects are placed on NPCs with the 'Invisible Man' model, except the ones that are applied to NPCs that already existed in the area. I just selected the first companion animal from the list (Badger) and changed its model. They can all be found in the Appearance (visual effect) cell.
So the most important effect is 'fx_animus', it's the one that makes the screen distort when you're near it. It doesn't have a lot of range, at least not so it's noticeable, so I placed 2-4 in every tile, I guess let's just say 3.
The effect that was applied to the NPCs that already existed in that area was 'fx_shadowfiend2', it makes them transparent-black and gives them red eyes.
NPCs with the 'n2_fx_fog_lg' effects were placed on the ground and at head height, possibly just under, and there's a few in each tile. I'd say 5 on the ground and 3 or 4 at head height.
There's an effects called 'sp_darkness', I didn't use it as much as fog or animus, but there's still 1 one every tile, and in open areas (like places that weren't corridors) there were mote like to 2 every tile.
I guess this one's pretty important, it's called 'sp_storm_veng_light_2', the one that makes the sort of storm effect. It makes the snow and the rain, looks pretty cool when it's been distorted by animus. There's only one of those, but I suppose you'll need more in larger areas or exteriors.
And that's all of the effects : ) I should war you now that it seems like sometimes the Invisible Man men are selectable, any ideas whether this is a bug or if there's a check box that can stop this from happening? Because it doesn't seem to happen consistently.
